Students of Schule für Gestaltung in Biel, Switzerland, won the first prize in the photography discipline of the Swiss national Young? Creative? Chevrolet! contest, which is part of a pan-European competition carmaker Chevrolet conducted for the second time this year. The winners received 1,200 euros in price money and will participate in the contest's European final on September 12, 2008.

This year, the young photo artist were asked to depict a Chevrolet Captiva in a creative way. With their photo "Party on Lake Biel", the students of Schule für Gestaltung in Biel came in first ahead of the strong competition from the other participating schools, EMAF (Ecole de multimédia et d’art de Fribourg) and Schule für Gestaltung Bern.
A total of 18 students of Schule für Gestaltung Biel worked on this project. All the props incorporated in the winning picture were created by the students themselves.
The jury of experts commented the photo as follows: The creative association of cartoon elements with the real world tells many stories with which both children and adults can identify. The Chevrolet Captiva was harmoniously integrated into the overall concept, while the main focus is on the people with their diverse leisure-time activities. On the technical side, it has to be underlined the picture is not the result of digital imaging. Rather, the masks were actual props on the set.
The students of Schule für Gestaltung Biel received their 1,200 euros in price money at a small award ceremony at Museum für Gestaltung in Zurich today.
Ueli Rohner, the spokesman for the group, showed himself surprised and overjoyed: "We never would have thought we'd win. Now, we're looking forward to the European final." All the winners in the photography discipline of the 15 countries participating in the contest, will compete against each other on a pan-European level. The overall winner is invited to witness a professional photo shoot for a new Chevrolet campaign and also receives a cash prize.
